Vejmelka & Wünsch completes in these days 20 years of its independent operation on the Czech market for legal services

18.12.2022

The law firm Vejmelka & Wünsch has taken over at its foundation in 2002 the Prague branch office of the globally-active foreign law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, in which founders of Vejmelka & Wünsch were partners. The whole legal team of the Prague branch office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has passed over to Vejmelka & Wünsch at its foundation. It is just that extensive international experience and substantial legal know-how combined with detailed knowledge of Czech and EU laws that have enabled Vejmelka & Wünsch to build a law firm based on an international model that offers comprehensive legal services and is able to satisfy both strategic and everyday needs of its clients. A stable clientele, long-term personal relationships with the clients and a well-working team of lawyers with excellent professional and language skills are the main currency of the office.

During its tenure, the office has acted as a legal advisor in many significant transactions and its attorneys represented clients in many disputes that attracted media attention. That includes legal counselling to Housing & Construction on the BOT pilot infrastructure project in Central and Eastern Europe or to International Power in extensive privatization in the energy sector, to the Kapsch consortium in all phases of the construction and operation of the electronic collection toll system in the Czech Republic, to the REWE group on its acquisition of PLUS Discount, or to the SeneCura group on its projects for the operation of social care homes for the elderly in the Czech Republic. Within the church property restitutions, attorneys of the law firm successfully represented the National Heritage Institute in a series of disputes over the rendition of the property of incalculable value belonging to the ownership of the Czech Republic, such as e.g. Bouzov Castle or Flower Garden in Kroměříž. Vejmelka & Wünsch also successfully represented companies MAFRA and Raiffeisen stavební spořitelna in cartel proceedings before the Office for the Protection of Economic Competition and it produces on a regular basis comprehensive legal opinions for international capital market organizations (the so-called ICMA and ISLA).

To the extent possible, the office provides also free legal services (pro bono) to persons in a difficult social situation, for whom professional legal assistance would otherwise be unavailable.

Vejmelka & Wünsch has been repeatedly rated as a leading law firm in the Czech Republic by independent international rating institutions that evaluate market for legal services, including Legal 500, Chambers Europe and IFLR 1000.
